Emirates has marked the special occasion of UAE-Kuwait Week with a series of meaningful initiatives designed to honor the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the UAE and the State of Kuwait. The celebrations, which ran alongside the airline’s 30 weekly flights connecting Dubai and Kuwait, were highlighted by a unique selection of traditional desserts, special in-flight content, and symbolic gestures showcasing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
To commemorate the occasion, Emirates introduced a specially curated range of traditional desserts across all cabin classes on flights between Dubai and Kuwait. Passengers were treated to a Pistachio Rahash Tart, served in all cabins, offering a deliciously nutty experience. Additionally, First and Business Class passengers enjoyed a Gahwa Tart, a perfect complement to the luxury of Emirates’ premium offerings, while Premium Economy and Economy Class travelers were treated to a delightful Toffee Date Cake, a comforting nod to the region’s rich culinary traditions.
In addition to the special culinary offerings, Emirates took the opportunity to enhance the flight experience with themed onboard announcements that highlighted the significance of UAE-Kuwait Week. The airline also ensured that the in-flight entertainment captured the spirit of Kuwait, with a selection of popular Kuwaiti films and TV shows, including Gergasha, Fath Hesab, Al Sohba Al Holwa, and Darb Al Zalag. Music lovers also had access to albums from some of Kuwait’s most celebrated artists, such as Abdallah Al Rowaished, Mutref Al Mutref, and Nabeel Shuail, offering a musical journey reflective of the nation’s culture.
One particularly symbolic moment occurred on Flight EK855 on February 2, when the aircraft was commanded by Kuwaiti Captain Husain Alabdulmohsen, with Emirati First Officer Ishaq Abdulla in the cockpit. This flight epitomized the spirit of cooperation and the shared values that have defined the relationship between the two countries over the years.
Kuwait was one of Emirates’ first destinations in the GCC when the airline began operations there in 1989. The airline initially offered just two weekly flights to Kuwait aboard a Boeing 727. Today, Emirates operates 29 out of 30 weekly flights with retrofitted Boeing 777s and the latest Airbus A350s, incorporating the airline’s highly praised Premium Economy class and premium products across all cabins. Over the past three decades, Emirates has transported more than 16 million passengers between Dubai and Kuwait, playing a vital role in connecting travelers from Kuwait to over 150 destinations across the airline’s global network. Additionally, Kuwait is home to over 268,000 Emirates Skywards members, further emphasizing the strong demand for travel to and from the region.
In January 2025, Kuwait became one of the first Emirates destinations to welcome the Airbus A350 into its fleet, a move that further enhanced the travel experience. The A350, now serving two daily flights between Dubai and Kuwait, offers passengers an improved experience with wider aisles, quieter cabins, state-of-the-art technology, and lighting designed to help reduce jet lag. Passengers can also enjoy Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, which has been lauded for its vast selection of movies, TV shows, and music.
Emirates’ longstanding collaboration with Kuwait Airways was also highlighted with the recent signing of an interline agreement. This partnership enables Kuwait Airways’ passengers to access 19 destinations on the Emirates network, including countries such as Australia, China, Japan, the United States, and South Africa. Conversely, Emirates customers benefit from enhanced regional connectivity through Kuwait Airways’ network, including destinations in Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
Beyond air travel, Emirates continues to support trade between Kuwait and the world through its robust freight operations. The airline’s dedicated freighter service, which operates weekly, has been vital in transporting goods to and from Kuwait. Over the past five years, Emirates SkyCargo has carried more than 165,000 tonnes of cargo, including fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and mail, helping local businesses in Kuwait export their products worldwide while supporting the import of essential goods into the country.
Through these initiatives, Emirates not only strengthened its connection with Kuwait but also demonstrated its ongoing commitment to fostering closer ties between the UAE and Kuwait, while providing unparalleled service and experiences to passengers traveling between the two nations.
